Man, I hate Google Ads today!
Banned again, this time for Circumventing systems policy.

We use the Google App in Shopify so this should not be an issue.
Google fix your app please!

We were banned when I raised our daily budgets.
Google please take my money! Please????

This is why you need diverse traffic sources for your store.

Here is what brought us to $44k in 12 days:

  1. Google Ads

  2. Facebook Ads

  3. Organic Social Media Content

  4. Organic Content

  5. Email / SMS

Google ads have been the main driver, making up 70% of our first touches in paid ads. Then we have a discount offer for first purchase on Email / SMS (note: 95% of our traffic is mobile so we do SMS mostly)

Google Ads shut down really brings our growing business to a halt!

We need fresh visitors to turn them onto our offers!

So the question is:

What Other Traffic Sources Should We Work On?

Let’s drill down!

We have some data flowing into Facebook now on best customers, so it is time to lean in harder for first time traffic from Facebook.

On Facebook, it is really important to target people with OFFERS.
Without an offer on Facebook, your cost per sale will be high.

Here are some examples of offers that we are going to test:

  1. BUNDLES

  2. FLASH SALES

  3. FREE PRODUCT

  4. GIVEAWAYS

We test our offers in a campaign with a decent ad budget (like $1k a day) to get started. So this test will be $4k a day in testing.

Then we start taking down offers that are not performing after 48 hours.

Which ever offer is working, start ramping up traffic to that offer.

If no offer is working, then we pivot to create custom landing pages, different ad creatives or come up with completely different offers.

All offers on Facebook ads are targeting traffic based upon 1% lookalike audiences of our buyers.

Next, we need to get TikTok ads going. TikTok has been giving us a hard time with promoting trademark products that we are authorized to sell. So we need to keep pushing to get our ads approved on TikTok.

Since Google is giving us a hard time, we can try Bing.
Although Bing is microscopic in comparison to Google Ads impression share.

Next up is AFFILIATE marketing to our current buyers, asking them to sign up as an affiliate to earn commissions.

And then INFLUENCERS promoting through social media (I like YouTube influencers as they can land in Google Search nicely for us!)

After that, promoting to NEWSLETTERS and other CONTENT SITES is a good way to get your products out there to the masses.

All this while we are fighting Google Ads to turn our account back on so we can get back to scaling ads through that platform.

Why Do I Like Google Ads So Much For This Business?

Because we are extremely competitive in our pricing!

When users search in Google for a product, we are cheaper than ANY OTHER STORE! Which makes us stand out nicely!

Lesson for today…

Don’t allow 1 traffic source to be the flow of all new business for you.
You must strengthen your traffic sources with first time customers.

You cannot get to $1m a month in sales without finding new traffic sources for first time customers. So keep testing to get good cost per new customer sales.

Then pump up your budgets on those platforms to ramp up!

This does force me to find those other sources quickly, so when Google does come back online, we should be at $500k a month in new customer sales.

Then we can start building those return customers and BOOM! $1m a month!

I’m calling the shot now… We will be there before November 2024.
Then in November we just need to make sure we have enough inventory on hand to do $2m (in a week!)
